David W. Johnson, Doctor of Chiropractic

I attended Luther College for one year and graduated from The University of Iowa in 1974 with a B.S. in general science. My wife, Julie, and I married that same year, and we have three grown children.

Our son Zach is a professional golfer on the PGA Tour. Our son Gabe is a graphic design and advertising specialist, and our daughter Maria, who holds a MPH (masters in public health), is a wellness consultant.

I attended Palmer College of Chiropractic, graduated summa cum laude and was salutatorian of my class in December of 1977. I was elected into Pi Tau Delta, the international chiropractic honor society. In 1978, I began my practice. Along with Dr. Swope and two other doctors, we started Chiropractic Health Care Associates in 1987.

I am a member of the Iowa Chiropractic Society and was on the Board of Directors for three terms totaling nine years; I was voted ICS director of the year and was the Iowa City/Cedar Rapids District President. I am a member of the American Chiropractic Association and a past member of the International Chiropractors' Association. Primarily a Gonstead method practitioner, I also use Diversified and Activator Methods of chiropractic care.

I’m a Level One Titleist Performance Institute (TPI)-certified medical expert. TPI Medical Certification gives medical professionals golf-specific injury assessment and rehabilitation techniques to get players back in the game. This certification allows me to work with a TPI-certified PGA professional and/or TPI-certified fitness expert in treating individuals who have a dysfunction in their golf swing resulting in pain.

My activities include past membership in the Cedar Rapids Jaycees, serving on the Board of the Regis-LaSalle/Xavier High School Foundation and current membership in Elmcrest Country Club. In my spare time, I enjoy playing golf, travel and the joy of being a grandparent.
